Foothill, I would say was an amazing decision. When I was in 8th grade, my mom and dad wanted to talk with me about my high school decision. I really had two choices, Ventura or Foothill Tech. I never had a desire to go to Buena. At first, I never wanted to go to Foothill; I wanted to go to Ventura because my mom and my uncle went there and because my friends would be there. Although, after I attended a Foothill tour everything changed for me.

Going to Ventura, in my mind, would be the greatest high school experience of my life. (I realize this is a bit of an exaggeration at this point.) One of the reasons I wanted to go there was because my mom and uncle went there. Another reason I wanted to go to Ventura was because my of my friends from middle school were going there. My final reason I wanted to go to Ventura was because of the big sports events and gigantic dances that happened there all the time. I told my parents about me wanting to go to Ventura, but they had an expression on their faces like they were saying, “No way you’re going there!” So, when they heard about a Foothill tour, there were so happy, even though I didn’t want to go on the tour.

I believe my mind was set on myself going to Ventura and being there with all my old friends and going to all these big sports events and dances. Although, my heart was pulling me toward Foothill. May be Foothill may not have big sports rallies or gigantic dances all the time, but who cares. There would be less drugs at Foothill than Ventura and I would also get a better education here because this school is one of the top rated schools in the state of California. Also, if I never went to Foothill, I would never have met my amazing teachers and friends.

So, what was I to do after wanting to come to Foothill, do research. I talked to some friends who already went here and I also went to the Foothill website and read everything from top to bottom. (I litterally read EVERYTHING.) So, now after doing research, I had to tell my closest friends that were going to Ventura about me applying fo Foothill. When I first told them about my decision to come to Foothill, they thought I was joking because at first, I never wanted to even consider to apply for Foothill. Although they acctually realized that I was serious, and they thought I was completely insane. Then they started to babble on about how I shouldn't go to Foothill, but I didn't listen.

When I had to decide if I wanted to go to Foothill, I had to think of two important things. My education, what would be better for me, and the people who attended and who taught at Foothill. This school was supposed to be one of the top schools in California and they had a better reputation than Ventura and Buena. I had very high hopes for this school so all I could do was hope and pray, then one day I finally got my exception to Foothill in my mail.

So far, being at Foothill has been the best experience and the best decision I had ever made. If I have never went to Foothill, I would have never met my amazing teachers and my amazing new friends. I am proud to call myself a Foothill nerd. ;)
